Stage Engineers Workshop – Aladdin Jr

A Hands-On Set-Building Workshop!

Ever wondered how a bare stage becomes a magical world? Get ready to find out!

Stage Engineers is a brand-new, hands-on workshop where students design, build, paint, and problem-solve their way to creating real set pieces for our spectacular middle and high school production of Aladdin Jr., coming to the PUD Theater in May 2027.

In this workshop-style class, students will experience the entire process of theatrical set production – from concept and design, to woodworking, texturing, and painting. This is hands-on education at its best!

Students will help produce real sets for Aladdin Jr., giving them the joy and sense of accomplishment that comes from seeing their own work brought to life on stage. The practical skills gained here will last a lifetime, and the chance to find creative solutions for unusual problems will spark real imagination.

Students aged 10 and up will also have the opportunity to work as backstage crew for the staged production.

Session One – Tools, Safety, Expectations, Training
Saturday, February 6th | 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Session Two – Planning, Brainstorming, Creativity, Vision!
Saturday, February 13th | 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Mid-Winter Build Week
February 15th – 19th | 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM daily

Who Should Join

  • Students aged 10 – 18 yrs
  • No prior experience necessary – just curiosity and a willingness to get hands-on
  • Great fit for students interested in design, carpentry, art, or backstage theater work

Safety & Liability

Liability release forms will be provided and must be signed before the first class.

Shop safety will be taught and enforced throughout the workshop, including – but not limited to – safe practices in the shop environment and the proper use of hand tools and power tools.
